Neil wins South African Leg of 2010 Global Pizza Challenge
Posted: on March 29, 2010

Neil Jewell – our Bread & Wine Vineyard Restaurant head chef and the local Charcuterie King – won the South African leg of the 2010 Global Pizza Challenge.

This means that in May 2010 Neil will be heading off to Melbourne to represent South Africa in finals of the Global Pizza Challenge. Awesome!

The pizza that clinched first place had a smoked flour base topped with aubergine, confit of Karoo lamb, sheeps’ feta, buchu and quince dressing. Sounds delicious doesn’t it? Well if you head out to Bread & Wine you’ll find it on the menu!

I don’t know how long it’ll be there so I suggest doing lunch sooner rather than later.

Almost a Guide-Dog
Posted: on February 17, 2010

Over the 2010 Môreson Blessing of the Harvest we managed to (thanks to everyone who attended) raise a total of R8450 for the South African Guide-Dog Association for the Blind.

It takes R10 000 to fully train a guide dog, so we are almost there! Only another R1550 to go and Miss Molly will be able to say that she helped train a guide dog.

I’m sure she’ll just dine-out on that story. She’s not exactly the subtle type.

Franschhoek Uncorked at Môreson
Posted: on October 8, 2009

This coming weekend – on the 10th and 11th of October 2009 – Franschhoek will belatedly usher in Spring with the third annual Franschhoek Uncorked Festival.

At Môreson – over the Uncorked weekend – we have the following on offer:

  • The official launch of our new range of Miss Molly wines. They’re fantastic and if you’re a dog lover you’ll adore the concept, the labels and the wine. We’re offering an Uncorked-only 10% discount on purchases of two cases (12 bottles) or more and a portion of every bottle sold will be donated to the South African Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind. What can we say … Miss Molly has a thing for guide dogs.
  • Neil Jewell’s famous food-market will once again be creating delicious cuisine. The Bread & Wine Head Chef does the best mussels and boerewors rolls this side of the equator. With the food he has on offer you’ll find yourself settling down for a snack and staying for the entire day.
  • There is an entire children’s section including: a jumping castle, games, snacks, pizza and more.
  • Music by Lara Frances – she played last year and was absolutely fantastic.
A great selection of BMW motorcycles, Landrovers and Warn products on display. The motorcycles, Landrovers and Warn products will definitely keep the guys interested; and, who knows, maybe you’ll finally take the plunge and order that bike you’ve always wanted.
  • Lastly the South African Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind – who are proudly supported by Miss Molly – will be at Môreson for the duration of Uncorked.

We’ve checked and rechecked the weather and it looks set to be a beautiful weekend.

See you in Franschhoek.
