Chef's Table at The Foodbarn

This last Friday we showcased our wines at a very special chef’s table at The Foodbarn in Noordhoek.

Chef Franck Dangereux blew us away with his dishes—it was wine and food pairing heaven.

The wine, and the food. Nikki Friedman aka The Lady Fizz was there to talk about the wines, Chef Franck was also there to chat about the dishes.

Guests were welcomed with Solitaire MCC.

The Doctor Reason Why Unwooded Chardonnay sang with raw scallop, grapefruit, mint, feta crème, soy.

burnt aubergine, “huguenots” fritter, charcoal mayo, cucumber, gomasio, coriander was a rich and smokey match for the Knoputibak Semillon / Chardonnay

A rich match was made with the Mercator Chardonnay and Cape rock lobster, crunchy capers, melted butter, lemon, croutons.

A special appearance was made by the Foxtrot Yankee Mike Chardonnay, and paired beautifully with the minute grilled quail, vinegar jus, nasturtiums, chardonnay grapes & pine nuts.

South Africa at its best was the Widow Maker Pinotage with Karoo lamb fillet and kidneys, spinach & shallot brik, herb compote, black pepper & lamb essence.

It was classic cassis with the MKM Pinotage (another special appearance) and fondue of “pépé” with thyme, cassis, wild radish leaves.

The finale was a showstopper: our petrified dessert wine (the fudge) showed some clout with the plum & almond clafouti, coconut spoom, condensed milk sorbet, figs.
