Miss Molly Update

Posted on October 06, 2011 by Nikki

Our beloved Miss Molly has had a relatively exciting winter. She has dedicated a considerable amount of time to terrorizing exercising the guinea fowl and squirrels and - given that this is the only workout our squirrels seem to get - she is single-handedly keeping them in shape.

Winter was, as you can imagine, cold. So our Molly, not one for early mornings, took to sleeping in until called for lunch. After lunch she indulged herself with a spot of hole-digging landscaping and bird/squirrel boot camp and then chose to retire to the TV room couch where she enjoyed lounging for the remainder of the day.

On the wine front her range of wines have been involved in a number of charitable events including: The annual Guide Dog Ball and fund raising for various Animal's in Distress initiatives.

In addition all of your purchases of Miss Molly wines have now resulted in the full sponsorship of the training of a number of guide dogs. Well done!

Bread & Wine Vineyard Restaurant

Posted on October 06, 2011 by Nikki

Our acclaimed vineyard restaurant, Bread & Wine, has just had a makeover. This beautiful winelands' lunch spot now looks better than ever.

Florals, which have been major trend in fashion lately, are now spilling over into design and restaurants and hotels are embracing it with gusto. We love this trend so much that we've incorporated it into the recent Bread & Wine Vineyard Restaurant revamp.

The interior now sports an Alice in Wonderland garden feeling that compliments the outdoor courtyard perfectly.

If you're in the area pop in for a visit and check out our floral chandeliers. You won't be disappointed!

P.S. Why not stay for a spot of lunch? Neil's cuisine is plate-lickingly-delicious.

What’s cooking good-looking?

Posted on October 06, 2011 by Nikki

Clayton Reabow is his name and winemaking at Môreson is his game. You've probably tasted his wines, you could belong to his ever-expanding fan club, you might even be one of his beloved stalkers but how well do you really know the talented Mr. Reabow?

I sat down with Clayton, over a bottle of Premium Chardonnay, and asked him a few things that I've always wanted to know.

Clayton's favourite varietals?

- Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc.

Best dish on the Bread & Wine menu?

- Neil's antipasto charcuterie board. Yum!

The Môreson 2010 wine that Clayton is most proud of?

The Môreson Premium Chardonnay 2010. According to Clayton, "it is a culmination of four years of hard work that have included getting to know the vineyards and how each indiviual block needs to be treated."

For Clayton the 2010 Môreson Premium Chardonnay is the culmination of all the lessons learnt in 2007, 2008 and 2009. It possess all the best characteristics of these vintages and it is our most refined Chardonnay to date.

Insider's information … something we should all know about Clayton Reabow?

Clayton is a perfectionist. To get to the final 2010 Môreson Premium Chardonnay blend Clayton experimented with 150 different blend options. Wow!

Wine Highlight: The 2010 Môreson Premium Chardonnay

Posted on October 06, 2011 by Nikki

Every year we look at how we can add something more to the already exceptional Premium Chardonnay and I am delighted to be able to say that the 2010 is the best Premium Chardonnay we, as a farm, have produced to date. It shows significantly more fruit on the nose than the 2009 and the oak integration is – once again – sublime.

It is available, for purchase, through our online store and as a newsletter subscriber you get a 10% Môreson Friends and Family discount.  Just use the following coupon code when you checkout: nik_fri.

Don't wait until it's too late. Buy two cases today to avoid dismay!

Seriously you don't want to be the one person who misses out on this FAB.U.LOUS vintage.

Fox Yankee Mike: The World's Best Chardonnay

Posted on October 06, 2011 by Nikki

We have some exciting new developments on the Môreson Chardonnay front.

This year sees the launch of our new Fox Yankee Mike Chardonnay. This Chardonnay has been crafted with love to celebrate the 40th year of my father going solo. It’s a real celebration of his love of Chardonnay and flying.

To arrive at the final Fox Yankee Mike blend we tasted 40 different blends. This, as I am sure you know, was no mean feat and the end result is sensational. The 2010 Fox Yankee Mike has been bottled and we are presently letting it lie to ensure that the wine is the best it can be when it is officially released.

The Fox Yankee Mike is an unashamedly big Chardonnay and it showcases everything my dad loves about this fantastic cultivar. Great fruit on the nose and well-integrate oak adds depth and complexity to this Chardonnay. It also stretches across the palate and has that beautiful long long finish that we believe separates the men from the boys when it comes to truly great Chardonnays.  In addition it is a Chardonnay that has been designed to age. So you’ll be able to appreciate it now or relish every sip 10 years from now.

Production has been limited to just 100 cases and it is available only to our very best Chardonnay customers. We’re limiting everyone to just 12 bottles and you need to be on the list to be able to experience, and enjoy, this superb wine. Luckily we have just 4 spots for newsletter subscribers available.

The maiden vintage of Fox Yankee Mike will be officially released on the 26th of October 2011 (my father’s birthday). I am however offering you the opportunity to pre-order and purchase your case of Fox Yankee Mike right now. We will then ship you your Fox Yankee Mike on the 26th of October 2011. Oh and shipping, regardless of where in South Africa you are, is on the house.

Enquire or preorder your Fox Yankee Mike now.

View from the Top October 2011

Posted on October 06, 2011 by Nikki

2011 has been a sensational year at Môreson. We've been super-busy on the farm and in the winery. We have just finished suckering and, in the past month, our Chardonnay vines have moved on from just budding to putting on a full leaf display. Nothing heralds the arrival of spring, and the banishment of the winter chills, quite like the luminous green of fresh leaves in the vineyard.

The latest addition to the vineyards is a beautiful new Chardonnay block that is scheduled to come into production in 2016. It's full of the promise of things to come on Môreson and, judging by the health of these small vines, we have a lot to look forward to.

On the winery front we've recently released a selection of new vintages including: the 2010 Môreson Premium Chardonnay, the 2010 Môreson Pinotage the 2009 Môreson Mata Mata and the 2011 Môreson Sauvignon Blanc.

Each of these wines is superb and hopefully you'll be able to experience them before we sell out. But, a word of experienced advice, you should make it snappy because they are selling out faster than hotcakes … you have been warned.
